If you want to find companies that match your target customer and run outreach to them, start with Clay. If you want to pay a particular professional for a conversation or an answer, try Instant Expert.

You might use both. Clay can help you build a list of companies that recently changed their support software. Instant Expert can help you invite someone involved in those changes to explain what happened—or attend a paid introduction to your product.

What Clay does

Clay brings company and contact data, web research and AI tools into workflows you can run repeatedly. You decide which companies qualify, what information to collect and what should happen next.

It also has a native email sequencer. You can use the information in your tables to qualify leads, personalize messages and send outreach. Clay is worth considering when your team needs to run that process across many prospects.

Someone still needs to build and maintain the workflow. For a handful of conversations, that may be more setup than you need.

What Instant Expert does

In Instant Expert, describe the people you want to reach, review their profiles and choose whom to invite. You can request a paid call or an asynchronous reply. For replies, the recipient chooses text or voice.

The invitation can be for research, product feedback or a sales introduction. Say what you want to discuss and review the person's price before sending. They decide whether to accept.

If you already have a list, import a CSV containing names and companies, emails or LinkedIn URLs. A Clay export can work here; moving that file is a manual step, rather than a built-in connection between the products.

An example: why did a company replace its support software?

Suppose you sell software for support teams. Clay helps you look for companies that publicly mentioned changing platforms and identify people who may have worked on the change.

That gives you a useful starting list. To understand the purchase, you need to hear from someone involved. In Instant Expert, you could offer a 30-minute paid call. In your invitation, ask:

Were you involved in choosing or rolling out the new support platform? What was your role?

Then ask:

  • What prompted the team to consider a change?
  • Which alternatives did you compare?
  • Who made the final decision?
  • What, if anything, surprised you during the rollout?

If you want to demonstrate your own software, describe the invitation as a paid product introduction. The person should know what they are agreeing to.

Pricing and the next step

On September 25, 2026, Clay's pricing page showed Launch at $185 per month and Growth at $495 with monthly billing selected. A free plan was also available. Plans have separate allowances for actions and data credits; check both against the workflow you intend to run.

Instant Expert shows a price for each person and request. Those offers are separate from any Clay subscription.

For ongoing prospecting, try a small Clay workflow and check the resulting list. For a question you need a professional to answer, choose a few relevant people in Instant Expert and prepare a clear paid invitation.
