Instant Expert vs Cognism: contact data or a paid conversation?

Understand Cognism’s prospecting and enrichment plans, and when an Instant Expert paid call or reply is a better fit for the work you need done.

Instant Expert EditorialPublished Updated 3 min read

Choose Cognism when your sales team needs contact data for prospecting or CRM enrichment. Choose Instant Expert when you want to offer selected people payment for a call or reply. Having someone’s phone number and asking them to share their experience are separate steps.

What you are buying from Cognism

Cognism separates its offering into sales prospecting, CRM enrichment and Data-as-a-Service. The prospecting product helps you find and export contacts. CRM enrichment maintains existing records. Data-as-a-Service supplies data through an API or bulk delivery. Cognism product guide

This distinction matters before you request a quote. If reps need numbers to call, start with prospecting. If the problem is incomplete records in your CRM, ask about enrichment instead of assuming it comes with every sales subscription.

The current pricing page lists Standard and Pro prospecting packages, each with five seats included. Pro adds on-demand mobile verification and buying-intent features. Prices require a quote. Cognism uses credits to reveal contacts, with one credit per revealed contact; ask what allowance your proposed package includes. These details were checked September 26, 2026. Cognism pricing

Instant Expert shows the price for each person’s request in your draft. You can search for relevant professionals or import known people, then invite them to a call or request a reply. For a reply, they choose text or voice.

Example: preparing to sell warehouse software

If your sales team already knows which warehouses it wants to sell to, Cognism can help find contacts and obtain the data needed for outreach.

If you are still trying to understand who handles exceptions during a warehouse-system rollout, start by speaking to someone who has done that work. Search for an operations or implementation background, read the profile and explain the experience you want in the invitation:

Would you take a paid 30-minute research call about a warehouse-system rollout you worked on? I’d like to understand what happened when the standard process did not fit daily operations.

That conversation can help you decide which people to approach next and what to ask them. It should not be treated as evidence that an entire market wants your product.

Using contacts you already have

You can export selected Cognism contacts and import a CSV into Instant Expert. Identify each person with name plus company, email or LinkedIn URL. This is a file transfer, not an automatic Cognism connection.

Review the people, message and offers before sending. For a product introduction rather than research, say that the call will include a demonstration or sales discussion.

Choose Cognism for a continuing supply of contact data or record maintenance. Use Instant Expert when your immediate next step is a particular conversation with someone who has relevant experience.
