That makes a useful distinction for a packaging-software team. Asking an operator to explain how a factory changes carton specifications is an interview. Asking someone to document the process, review your proposed design, and run a workshop is a larger assignment.
For the larger assignment, specify the output before requesting a quote. For example: “We need a process description we can review before the workshop, with time during the workshop to resolve questions.” Ask who writes it, how much preparation is included, and whether revisions are part of the scope.
