Instant Expert vs People Data Labs: person records or paid conversations?

Choose People Data Labs for structured person data in an application, or Instant Expert for paid calls and replies. Includes API and pricing distinctions.

Instant Expert EditorialPublished Updated 3 min read

People Data Labs supplies person data for software and internal systems. Instant Expert lets you find people and invite them to paid calls or replies. If you are building a product that needs records, evaluate People Data Labs. If you need to speak to someone, you may not need to build a data integration first.

Two API jobs worth distinguishing

People Data Labs’ Person Enrichment API matches supplied information to a person record. For example, your application could start with a known identity and request available employment and profile fields. Person Enrichment API

Person Search works the other way around: you specify criteria using fields in the person schema and retrieve matching profiles. That suits an application that needs to find people meeting stored criteria. Person Search API

Neither response is a new answer from the person. If your team is building an account-research screen, those records may be exactly the output you need. If the founder wants an operations leader to explain how a process works, the next step is an invitation.

Pricing and the free-plan limit

People Data Labs’ person-data pricing, checked in the public browser page on September 26, 2026, lists up to 100 monthly credits free, with contact data obscured. Pro starts at $98 per month for 350 monthly credits and includes contact data. Enterprise uses custom pricing and annual contracts. Person-data pricing

Use the free plan to assess the data structure and matching behavior. Do not budget it as a source of unobscured emails or phone numbers. For a production integration, check the fields and volume your application actually needs.

Instant Expert shows the price of each call or reply request in the draft. You choose whom to invite after reviewing their background and offer.

A practical example

Suppose you are researching how operations teams resolve discrepancies between systems. You need someone who has handled those cases, not merely a record with an operations title.

In Instant Expert, search for that background or import a known email, LinkedIn URL or name plus company. Your invitation could say:

Would you take a paid 30-minute research call about a discrepancy between business systems that you helped resolve? I’d like to understand how it was noticed and what happened next, without confidential customer details.

Use the opening of the call to establish what they personally did. For one focused question, choose a reply; the recipient can answer in text or voice.

If your application needs both

Keep the person record and the invitation status separate. Finding a profile does not mean the person is available for a call.

Instant Expert’s MCP connection can search or import people and prepare a request. It can also send after paid sending is enabled for that connection, a saved card is selected and you explicitly approve the order. This is a separate request workflow, not a native People Data Labs connector. Start with a paid invitation if the conversation is what you need to accomplish.
