Tegus pricing: what expert calls and platform access cost

Tegus expert calls are priced at the expert's rate plus a flat $75 transcription fee, according to AlphaSense's Tegus Expert Call Services page. The page's FAQ cites an average expert rate of about $450, says usage is rounded up to the nearest 15 minutes, and says there is no minimum commitment. What the published call pricing says

The page also says customers save an average of 70% compared with traditional networks. That is AlphaSense's claim; we have not seen the underlying comparison.

A worked example, with assumptions

The page does not say whether the expert rate is per hour. Suppose you are quoted $450 an hour for a specific expert. A 30-minute call would then cost about $225 for the expert plus $75 for the transcript, or roughly $300. If the call runs 32 minutes, the 15-minute rounding means you would be billed for 45 minutes. These numbers are illustrations; ask for the actual rate and unit for each expert before you book.

What the platform costs

AlphaSense's pricing page describes annual subscriptions "ranging from enterprise packages to per-seat options" and asks you to contact sales. The Expert Transcript Library, which includes Tegus transcripts, is listed in both its Market Intelligence and Enterprise Intelligence plans. Expert calls appear as a product add-on. The call services FAQ says you start by requesting a demo or contacting sales, and then submit call requests once you have platform access. The public pages do not say whether you can buy calls without a platform subscription. Ask directly: "For five calls this quarter, what platform access, expert fees, transcription and add-ons would we pay?"

Questions to ask before you sign

• Is the expert rate per hour, and does it vary by expert seniority or region?
• Do we need a platform subscription to book calls, and what is the minimum term?
• What does the concierge (call-taker) add-on cost, and what does translation cost?
• What does a pay-to-delay embargo cost, and how long is the standard embargo?
• If we prepay, what is the package size and does it expire?

Alternatives to Tegus
