Instant Expert vs CleverX
CleverX is a research platform that recruits from its own panel of verified participants and charges a monthly subscription plus credits per completed response, with incentives on top. Instant Expert invites the specific professionals you name or describe, including people in no panel, with no subscription, and you pay only if they book or answer.

The main difference
CleverX runs studies: surveys, prototype tests, video answers and interviews run by AI or by a person, recruited from its own panel. That suits a research team that runs many studies with many participants.
Instant Expert is for the conversations a panel can't supply: a named executive, a buyer at a specific account, a former operator at a company you're studying. You choose them, we invite them at work, and there's nothing to subscribe to.
Side by side
| Question | Instant Expert | CleverX |
|---|---|---|
| Who you can reach | Anyone you name or describe whose work email we can find, including executives and niche specialists. | Members of its panel. CleverX says 10M+ B2C and B2B verified participants. |
| How pricing works | You set the offer per person (minimum $5) and a cap on total spend. The offer is what the person receives, and our fee is added on top: a $100 offer costs you $125. Our fee is 20% of what you pay. No subscription. | Pro is $149 per user a month. Each completed response also uses $1 credits: 50 for a professional survey, 250 for a human-run professional interview. Participant payments are on top. |
| When you pay | Only when someone books a call or sends a written answer. Declines and invitations nobody accepts within 7 days cost $0. | The subscription is billed monthly. Credits are used only when a response completes, so no-shows and drop-offs cost nothing. |
| Speed | The invitation goes out when you approve the send. People have 7 days to book or answer, with up to two reminders. There's no guarantee a given person says yes. | CleverX's blog says 50 completed B2B responses within 24 to 48 hours for common roles, and several days for senior ones. |
| Best for | Interviews with senior or hard-to-find professionals, or specific named people, without a subscription. | Product and UX teams running ongoing studies with many participants. |

Where CleverX falls short
CleverX is a full research platform. For a few conversations with specific people, that's more than you need and less than you want:
- You can only reach panel members. An executive or niche specialist who never joined isn't there.
- You need a paid plan to launch a study: Pro at $149 per user a month, or an annual Enterprise contract. On Instant Expert there's no subscription.
- A human-run professional interview uses 250 credits ($250) on top of the participant's payment. On Instant Expert the offer is the payment, and our fee scales with it.
- You get whoever passes the screener, not the person you had in mind. On Instant Expert you can name the exact people you want to hear from.
If you need surveys, prototype tests or dozens of interviews with common roles, CleverX's panel and study tools are built for that.
